Abstract

We discuss various instances where wavelets on the interval serve as building blocks for extending wavelet methods to problems that are neither periodic nor defined on the whole Euclidean space. We then briefly review several properties of such wavelets which are relevant for the previously mentioned applications. Finally, we take a closer look at the quantitive stability properties of wavelets on the interval and indicate ways of improving them.
