Patricio Farrell elected new chair of KOMSO
WIAS researcher Patricio Farrell was elected the new chair of KOMSO on October 7, 2026. KOMSO, the Committee for Mathematical Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization, is an interest group representing applied mathematics in Germany with the goal of bridging research and industry.
Patricio Farrell is the Deputy Head of the Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing Research Group and works at the intersection of mathematical modeling, numerical mathematics, and scientific computing. As part of his research, he develops mathematical models and structure-preserving numerical methods for physical systems. A particular focus is on charge transport as well as semiconductor applications, including perovskite photovoltaics and neuromorphic computing.
We wish him every success with this work!
