The Weierstraß-Institut für Angewandte Analysis und Stochastik (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the German Federal Government and the “Länder”. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft.

For the numerical simulation and optimal control of partial differential equations with random coefficients in cooperation between the research groups

“Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing”

(Head: Prof. Dr. V. John) and

“Nonlinear Optimization and Inverse Problems”

(Head: Prof. Dr. D. Hömberg) we invite applications for a

Research position

(Ref. 12/13)

Applicants are expected to have a university degree (PhD preferred) and an intimate knowledge in efficient methods for the numerical solution of partial differential equations, in particular with random coefficients.

Please direct your queries to Prof. D. Hömberg (Dietmar.Hoemberg@wias-berlin.de) or to Prof. V. John (Volker.John@wias-berlin.de).

The initial appointment is for three years. The work schedule is 39 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVoeD scale.
