PDE 2019: Partial Differential Equations in Fluids and Solids

Group Portrait PDE 2019

Weierstrass Institute Berlin, 9-13 September 2019

Announcement, scientific scope, and program

This workshop fuses expertise on the analysis of PDEs in solids, fluid dynamics, complex fluids, and interaction of fluids with solid structure. Its goal is to create new synergies among these fields in order to advance analytical methods for current research related to systems with bulk-interface interaction, geometrically nonlinear materials, and fluid-structure interaction. This concerns, e. g., Lagrangian and Eulerian descriptions, free boundaries and moving domains, and variational approaches via energy/entropy methods.

PDE 2019 runs from the afternoon of Monday, 9 September 2019, to Friday, 13 September 2019, at the Weierstrass Institute, Mohrenstraße 39, 10117 Berlin, Germany, see also `How to get to WIAS.’

In addition, PDE 2019 hosts a meeting of the Activity Group Analysis of Partial Differential Equations of GAMM (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik / International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics) on Thursday, 12 September 2019, at 4 PM.

Accessibility, and day care for children
