Joshua Gans: Alternative Models for Contribution
ABSTRACT
In creating a digital mathematics library, there are many activities that need to be done.
First, there are business activities: providing access or repositories for existing primary knowledge documents (journal papers and books).
Second, the design of algorithm to extract mathematical knowledge from existing sources. This involves an agreement on protocols, output formats and verification.
Third, there are human activities that require the design of an incentive system for contribution to ensure the job gets done.
My talk will primarily focus on the third set of activities and consider alternative models of contribution and their merits.
