Gert Greuel: On access infrastructures to digital libraries

ABSTRACT

I shall make a few general remarks about what I think is needed for a WDLM before I turn to access infrastructures. A good access infrastructure to digital libraries is essential for providing a broad usage of these libraries. I describe first the WDML from the perspective of a local visitors centre like the Mathematical Research Institute Oberwolfach. Then I will outline how reference databases like Zentralblatt MATH or MatSciNet could provide core services for a WDML. I show in particular, how an integrated framework not only supports the access of the user to scattered documents, but also provides the opportunity to create unified tools based on the MSC and semantic analysis to enhance retrieval.
