Research Assistant Position

in
the Research Group
”Partial differential equations”
(Head: Prof.
Dr. Alexander Mielke) in
cooperation with the Research Group
”Stochastic
Algorithms and Nonparametric Statistics”
(Head: Prof. Dr. Vladimir Spokoiny) starting at June 1, 2017 in the ECMath project ”Model-based geometry reconstruction of quantum dots from TEM”. The aim of the project
is the development of a novel mathematical approach to the reconstruction of
quantum dot geometries from transmission electron microscopy (TEM) data in
collaboration with the AG Lehmann (Electron microscopy and holography) at
TU Berlin.
Applicants
are expected to have a university degree (Master or Diploma) in Mathematics or
Physics and the the willingness to collaborate
responsibly in an interdisciplinary project. An intimate knowledge of one of
the following topics
-
partial differential equations and numerical methods,
-
differential geometry,
-
statistics,
as
well as software programming skills are desirable. The successful candidate
will have the possibility to conduct a PhD thesis.

The initial
appointment is limited until December 31, 2018. The work schedule and the
salary is according to the German TVoeD scale (75%).
