The Secretariat of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) is hosted at the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS). IMU is an international non-governmental and non-profit scientific organization, with the purpose of promoting international cooperation in mathematics. The Secretariat’s operation is supported by grants from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the State of Berlin.

WIAS is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft.

For the IMU Secretariat we are seeking a

Project Assistant (f/m/d)

starting as soon as possible.

Responsibilities:

Supporting the administrative work in the IMU Secretariat, in particular assisting the administration of the CDC programs (Abel Visiting Scholar Program, Conference Support Program, IMU–Simons African Fellowship Program, Individual Research Travel Support Program, etc).

Qualifications, skills, experience:

  • Qualified administrative assistant
  • Fluent English, written and spoken, intermediate German skills
  • Sound MS Office skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • Preferably knowledge of database management via Drupal or some other content management systems
  • Office work experience is desirable.

The contract is limited in time and will end February 29, 2020. Working time is 25 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVöD. Office attendance is flexible where appropriate, occasionally work in the evening or on the weekend (about 4 times per year).
