Research Assistant Position (f/m/d)

in the Research Group

“Interacting Random Systems”

(Head: Prof. Wolfgang König) starting on January 1, 2019.

We are seeking a person who will use probabilistic methods to analyse large interacting random systems and who could bring new directions of work into the research group.  The person should also be able to take initiative in applying for third party funding.  The WIAS would support the acquisition of teaching and supervision experience in preparation for a university teaching career.

Applicants are expected to hold a university master’s degree and a PhD (or have equivalent experience) in mathematics or a closely related topic.  Experience in the following areas would strengthen your application: large deviations, stochastic processes, statistical physics and stochastic geometry.  The research group works on applications of mathematics in physics, chemistry and telecommunications.

The initial appointment is limited for three years. The salary is according to the German public service scale (TVoeD).
