The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight non-university research institutes in Berlin that are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz Association.

 

WIAS invites applications for a

Research Position

in the Research Group

“Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing”

(Head: Prof. Dr. V. John) starting at the earliest possible date (Ref. 13/13).

The applicant is expected to do active research in the development, mathematical investigation, and implementation of numerical methods for the simulation of transport-dominated equations, like convection-diffusion equations or incompressible Navier-Stokes equations (turbulent flows). The applicant should possess substantial knowledge in the theory and implementation of finite element methods. A university Diploma or Master degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline is required. There is the possibility to work at a Ph.D. thesis.

The appointment is limited for three years. The work schedule is 39 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German public service tariff scale.
