Theoretical analysis of fast-moving transverse cavity solitons in a laser with an intracavitary saturable absorber

We consider a system of equations governing the evolution of transverse field distribution in a class B laser with a saturable absorber. We investigate the appearance of a branch of 1D and 2D fast-moving transverse cavity solitons after a drift bifurcation of an unstable stationary transverse soliton, and demonstrate existence and stability of this branch far above the lasing threshold. We discuss the relation of this regime to mode-locking.
