We report experimental characterization of the polarization state of dissipative structures generated in a Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) under linearly polarized optical injection. This experiment has been repeated for various polarization directions of the optical injection. Contrarily to expectations, the polarization of the dissipative structures is not the one of the optical injection, as the ellipticity is non negligible. We hence describe this experimental results using a model that proved to be adequate to describe the complex polarization behavior of VCSELs
