Fermi Pasta Ulam Tsingou recurrences in optical fibers

We report the observation of different features of Fermi recurrences Pasta Ulam Tsingou in an advanced photonic fiber system. We have developed a nearly lossless fiber optic device in which the longitudinal evolution of the electric field (intensity and phase) can be followed. This allowed us to capture the rich dynamics of this complex nonlinear system, such as the observation of symmetry breaking, the path to thermalization of the Fermi Pasta Ulam Tsingou recurrence process or the direct observation of complex breathers solutions predicted analytically .
