Effect of anomalous dispersion on the dynamics of FDML lasers

We derive a set of differential equations with distributed delay for modeling of multimode ring lasers with intracavity chromatic dispersion. We perform analytical stability analysis of continuous wave regimes in the limit of large delay and we demonstrate that sufficiently strong anomalous dispersion can destabilize these regimes. Using numerical simulations of these equations in application to FDML lasers, we show how anomalous dispersion can affect their dynamics.
