Nonlinear Dynamics in Semiconductor Lasers - Abstract
Troppenz, Ute
High speed transmitters for intensity modulation / direct detection (IM/DD) schemes are of interest in future 400 Gb/s datacom systems. Maximum modulation bandwidth is still one important target for the development of directly modulated lasers (DMLs) and DFB lasers with integrated electro-absorption modulator (EMLs). Increased spectral efficiency and operation at lowest power consumption are additional demands of current transmitter solutions. The talk will present recent progress and developments of InP-based DMLs and EMLs for application in optical fibre systems operating in the 1.3 µm and 1.5 µm wavelength windows. Laser solutions for Si-Photonic based transmitter approaches are discussed as well.
