A little account on Bose-Einstein condensation

Based on an innovative idea by the young Indian physicist Sathyendra Nath Bose in 1924, Albert Einstein predicted in 1925 the occurrence of a strange and very particular state of matter that he called "condensate", at extremely low temperatures. An experimental verification had to wait until 1995, and a Nobel prize was awarded for that in 2001. In this talk, we give a short account on the history of this fascinating phenomenon and explain the difficulties that the disciplines of Physics and Mathematics had and still have to thoroughly understand it.
