A numerical method to compute electromagnetic interior transmission eigenvalues

In this talk the numerical calculation of eigenvalues of the interior transmission problem arising in electromagnetic scattering for constant contrast in three dimensions is considered. Those interior transmission eigenvalues play an important role in nondestructive testing and hence their numerical calculation is of critical importance. A new method based on complex-valued contour integrals and the boundary integral equation method is presented which is able to calculate those transmission eigenvalues for various obstacles. Furthermore, this algorithm is capable of calculating complex-valued eigenvalues, although the proof of existence still remains.
