The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). WIAS invites applications for a

Research Assistant Position

(Ref. 17/15)

in the Research Group

"Nonlinear Optimization and Inverse Problems"

(Head: Prof. Dr. Dietmar Hömberg) starting at the earliest possible date.

Applicants are expected to have a university degree (PhD preferred) and an intimate knowledge in at least two of the following topics

  • nonlinear optimization,
  • numerical methods for PDEs,
  • Inverse problems, optimal control or shape optimization subject to PDE constraints,

and the willingness to collaborate responsibly in applied industrial projects.

The initial appointment is for three years and can be extended. The work schedule is 39 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVoeD scale.
