Two recent applications for simulations of turbulent flows

Two examples of high Reynolds number flows are presented. The first is an airflow simulation in and around a barn building. The results are compared to measurements in corresponding wind tunnel experiments. The second example deals with stirring of liquid steel using noble gas injected at the bottom of the ladles. Here an approach is presented which aims to find suitable positions of the injection nozzles as well as inflow profiles to maximize the stirring effect.
