Time and space supercontinuum generation in photonic crystal fibers and in spatially extended feedback systems, respectively, exhibits sharp, rare, and extremely high power pulses that share their main features with the devastating oceanic rogue waves. Experiments and Modelling of both time and space optical rogue waves are discussed. A numerical and experimental study of the statistics of these intense optical pulses by means of probability density functions is also reported.
